BuildStack Use Policy

1. What BuildStack Does

BuildStack assists qualified professionals by generating probable cause analysis and recommended repair scopes from defect descriptions and site photographs.

It is an assistant tool only - not a licensed diagnostic or professional advice service. All AI-generated content must be reviewed, edited, and approved by the user before being shared with clients or used in any professional context.

Use by RICS Members and Regulated Firms

BuildStack is designed to be used in accordance with the RICS Professional Standard: Responsible use of artificial intelligence in surveying practice (1st edition, effective 9 March 2026).

RICS members and regulated firms using BuildStack must:

• Apply professional judgement to assess the reliability of all BuildStack outputs before reliance
• Document their decision about the reliability of outputs in writing, as required by section 4.2 of the RICS standard
• Ensure a named, qualified surveyor accepts professional responsibility for all outputs issued to clients
• Disclose to clients in writing that AI-assisted tools have been used in the delivery of their service, as required by section 4.3 of the RICS standard
• Maintain their own data governance policies covering the upload of client data to third-party AI systems, as required by section 3.1 of the RICS standard

BuildStack provides a sign-off checkpoint before every document export to support compliance with section 4.2. The ‘DRAFT - NOT FOR ISSUE’ watermark on all exported documents must be removed only after professional review and sign-off.

2. What BuildStack Does Not Do

• It does not independently inspect, survey, measure, test, design, certify, or approve anything.
• It does not replace the professional judgement of a qualified surveyor or contract administrator.
• It does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any output.

3. Your Responsibilities

• You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before use.
• You must be a qualified professional or act under the supervision of one.
• Professional responsibility for all outputs remains with the named surveyor or professional, not with BuildStack.
• BuildStack accepts no liability for advice, diagnosis, or recommendations issued without professional review.

4. How AI Outputs Are Generated

Your defect descriptions, site notes, and photographs are sent to Anthropic's API to generate analysis. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

BuildStack does not use your data to train AI models.

5. Acceptance

By using BuildStack features you confirm you understand and accept these terms.
